The Snowy Mountains Experience

The Snowy Mountains offer a variety of activities for the non-fisher or those fishers taking a rest. From the rigors of horse riding the ranges to the relaxation of a book beside the murmuring river, you can take it all at your own pace. Do this without leaving our valley or if you are feeling adventurous, you can make the most of the nearby National Parks and attractions.

At The Outpost
There are a number of marked and unmarked bush walks around the property that you are free to use. Yaouk Mountain looms behind us and the marked two-hour walk (one way) to the top provides panoramic views of the valley. Nearby Mount Morgan, Mount Scabby and Sentry Box hill are also good day walks for the enthusiast. Expect to see many native animals and birds; in particular, look out for the majestic Wedge Tail Eagle soaring overhead.

Horse riding through the mountains is famous and we are lucky to have the riding stable Horsetreks in the valley, not more than ten minutes from the front gate.

If you like to play Tennis, bring your racquet, we have a good clay court on the property.

If rest is what you need that’s no problem, the beds, sofas, outdoor lounge as well as the myriad of ‘nooks and crannies’ down by the river are all comfortable and you won’t be disturbed... except by the plopping sound of a trout having lunch in a nearby pool!

Out and About
The Yaouk Valley has National Parks on two sides; the Kosciuszko National Park and the Namadgi National Park. If you have the time, take a drive though the high plains country, we can provide you with a picnic with which you can explore the local Yarongabilliy caves and it’s thermal pool, Blue Water holes, Kiandra Goldfields, Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme and a multitude of other out of the way ‘picnic spots’ on the high plains surrounding us. The nearest village is Adaminaby, which is about a twenty-five minutes drive away. For further information on regional attractions visit the Cooma Information Center.
